Writing an obituary is an important part of the process. If the person has not written one as part of their pre-planning, this can feel like an overwhelming responsibility. Due to stress of the death of a loved one, recalling the details of their life at this time can be a difficult task. To make this process easier, Bridge Beyond has provided a format to help you write an obituary.
First of all, an obituary can be very basic with only containing public facts about a person's life, such as their birth family tree and their death.
Others, might to write a much more detailed and personal obituary about the person that passed.

Announcement
List the date, location, and the cause of death. If you do not want your cause of death listed, feel free to leave it out. The date of birth can also be included or their age at the time of death.
Biographical Information (optional)
Tell some brief facts about the person's life, for example, their accomplishments, work, education, honors, and hobbies.
Essentially the family tree. List the spouse, children, grandchildren, and as desired, in-laws, other close relatives and friends. If desired, you can list loved ones who have predeceased (i.e. already passed on).
Note the time and location of any public viewings, memorial services, scatterings or inurnments; or any other gathering. If ceremonies are not to be public, then list the service, but leave out the details of the time and location.
Some families request that donations be made to a non-profit organization instead of sending flowers.
List the funeral home or crematorium. This will help ease the burden of phone calls to the family. The firm can give the day, the time, directions, or any other needed information for scheduled ceremonies and gatherings, or contribution information to florists or friends.
